Vacant minds....

Stupidity---
the government shutdown and default on US debt is based upon it- so it is now the dominant theme in U.S. politics the demonstrated Stupidity of the Republican Party and the presumed stupidity of the American public.  It is important not to underestimate either force- Republicans use Stupidity like the Jedi used the the force.  It is strong within them and they exude it when they act.  It seeps like a low cloud when they fill a room- choking off the air needed for thought. 

They see they world through this cloud and the American people are to believe  that Democratic-led national health care is a national crisis that threatens he future of the country, so much so that Republicans are justified in attacking the national economy.  They see the public as accepting that Democrats have therefore failed to deliver a strong economy and are to blame for the shutdown, the default, and the economic harms of sequester, killing jobs legislation, small business legislation, infrastructure, and the national rail improvement- (can't put all the economic growth they have killed here I would need a new FB page) The question then is how stupid are the American people-  they start with many Caucasian-Americans who want to believe something evil about Obama- Fox News ran a comedy spoof that Obama is paying to keep a Muslim museum open in the Shut down- as a News item,  see  they want to believe anything evil. 

Then there are the Republicans who have decided to do anything, support anything to stop Obama- truly even in the Civil War Era there has not been a political party as destructive as these Republicans  Tea Party- a group of incredible phonies( so many of them actually live on the Government as military retirees, ex-civil servants, teachers  so forth), who claim credit for the blood sacrifices of our Nation's Heroes- yeah, they do, they say the American traditions of freedom are theirs. In summary they posses an over saturation of stupidity- more than a human mind can hold-- I see Donald Trump and I think about the movie  MIB--  aliens inside of stuff...hmmmm

The republicans( no caps  they are no longer a proper noun - just a semi-curse word like...Poop)  believe they can convince Americans that Obama has done all of these tings: damaged our Nation's credit, damaged our military, brought on the debt of the last 60 years of warring around the world for profits-- ye, and they are right, most Americans are inclined to believe all or part of it--- like those poled during the campaign who felt Mitt Romney deserved credit for killing Bin laden--- ahh thank you Fox News -- you keep us so well informed.

The Squeaker of the House

( satire and humor except for the parts about Republicans- that is my characteristic understatement for comedic effect)

The GOP chided ( weird word) the President for negotiating with Putin rather than Republicans-- but something important was forgotten- the Russians are far less a threat to the US than the Republicans. The Repubulicans have shown that they are willing and able to inflict deep wounds to the body politic. Russia on the other hand, values us as a trade partner and while they have nuclear missiles pointed at us, their destructive power is not as great as the Republicans. The GOP would take us all out-- Republicans now campaign to convince young people NOT TO HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE- not to detect the illnesses that will later shorten their lives-- see, that is an attempt to destroy our young people. Then, of course, they have blocked millions of new jobs- that also is a need of our young- careers and jobs. Finally, the GOP will throw the entire global economy into recession by dishonoring US debts-- because they are unhappy that a democratic American majority (1) elected a Black man; and (2) chose to have longer healthier lives( Obamacare) - (i debated for an hour which was more offensive to them, I tossed a coin it came down on its edge- it mocked me!)
Yes we have a "leader" of the GOP in Congress, I remember when that Office was filled with accomplishments- that made life better for the Nation- Tip O'Neill, Sam Rayburn-- I will remember the current Speaker as a Squeaker - a little furry mouse of a man. A tool for a few business interests who sits and spits the word debt- like we don't know its OUR money, its OUR debt, and God-dammit- We want to use it to make jobs and a better life here - aaahhhhmeeeii! there goes my vow - I promised God i would not curse-- but then again She understands, she has a nose too - and the stench from Washington, goes all the way up to where it can't go --no more... :)

I saw an advert for a Conservative group vowing to fight on after the elections, fighting to put business leaders in charge of guiding our nation…they were quite serious…

I watch so many apparently bright people join libertarian and conservative movements with the idea that government is a Great Satan and we must purify our society by abandoning public policy and turning over our nation to the private sector-- hmmm

Lets see  Private Sector,  I think these were the same guys who invented chattel slavery as a fast way to billions( aka kidnap, rape and murder, and working humans like an animal into an early grave). They even imprisoned their own children in slavery--some were our Founding Fathers. James Madison, once murdered 30 men who tried to escape from captivity, was later elected President-- well, as my non slave descendant friends often remind me-- it was legal to rape,  kidnap, and murder  then, ahhhhmeeiii--

I can find no evidence anywhere that the marketplace governs with wisdom, if an idiot has billions-- judging by the last elections there are a lot of them here-- and if there is a little profit in it- game on! For example: burning oil, then we will burn a lot of it, heat the globe to the point that only the billionaires will be able to afford clean air, water, and a reasonable life expectancy.  The social side of things I guess would be left alone, unless there were a profit in it-- brides for sale, young boys...ummm.   You see, every evil we can imagine has been connected with uncontrolled greed.  So what is it that draws these apparently bright minds to the conclusion that government and taxation are the path to destruction--  well, what is being Conserved here?.  I mean this brand of freedom is like 4th Century Athens-- a man on a hill speaking  nobly of freedom and sacrifice-- while a slave stands next to him holding a goblet of wine. It was a Golden Age of Freedom indeed where Six of Ten were slaves.

In the election cycle just past we saw the effects of warm air around the globe- and even in the face of a 500 mile windstorm people said--it could have been caused by something other than climate change.  Well, it is no longer rational to say that-- we have changed the air-- warmed it. We will do even more so now because so much ice has been lost that the sun will warm much more of our ocean surface-- and the sun btw has awakened from a long period of low energy emission.  Sooo are we ready for constant war, for policies that make enemies of every darker skinned nation or group, are we really ready to kill people who want a different form of government than our DOLLAROCRACY, and what of the nearly criminal activity that many rich people have engaged in to get those billions-- friendly bankers, derivatives trades, influenced bond and securities ratings-- and the same people who rated junk bonds and liar loans as AAA rated paper  have down rated the US government?  I mean -- dont they get it-- we can raise trillions any year we choose just by getting them and their Corporation Peeps to pay their fair share of taxes!!

Anyway, as flawed as the judgments of political leaders, as deep and deadly their mistakes have been, as corrupt and partner-friendly their use of our military and assets-- they are but fleas on the ass of a running dog compared to the devastation an uncontrolled private sector can bring. By this  I mean: do you really want to see the USA taken over by vulture capitalists, ripped apart and sold to high bidders? I'm sure there would be a lot of profit in it(--) I mean the nuclear arsenal and drones alone must be worth a few bucks(--)just sayin'...hdm

Politics of tanning- (a political satire)

I just saw coverage of Romney[ yes, that little Mitt!] on Univision and-- my first reaction was- he has painted himself brown!!!!, i mean if regular Romney saw this brown Romney walking into his house at night-- there might be white flight!

His whole neighborhood might be in white flight.
It was disturbing at one level but really i was laughing until my tummy 
ached ohh for the love of the 47% this man truly is the worst campaigner i have seen.
 

Now, Romney has previously campaigned as the white guy who appeals to voters who really want to see a white male in the Presidency, I speak to many each day who express that view but usually in much more subtle ways than Romney who- as we know- no one ever asks for his birth certificate[ they do ask for his Goddamn tax returns though!!!].

I give Romney his due: he did a great job of picking wealthy parents, who were themselves 47% folks on welfare at one stage of their lives- and like nearly all of the 47% people contributed in vital ways to our nation- military service( oops Romney dint build that one); raising a family despite hardships( Romney dint do that one either, thanks to Dad and Mom and that silver spoon in his....uhh); helped make a family and community strong by paying their fair share of taxes right out of their paychecks( Romney CLEARLY has not done this, he changed his income from INCOME to INTEREST to cut his taxes in half, and paid when he damn well pleased--if ever!!).

Ahh the pale Mitt is a clever one and the tan Mitt tried to cover it up, but the people listening and watching on Univision saw through the make-up...tsk tsk underneath it all is a man who would be President ONLY because the US should be run by people like himself: pale billionaires, MEN who think they are superior because they have earned it all by themselves...by their inheritances( see they don't even thank their Mom's who really did build that!!) They just believe they should rule-- after all, they got rich the old fashioned way, they were born to it...hdm

Tell Don't Ask

The so-called Conservative Right, the self described soul of the Republican Party has given the best political issue yet to the Democrats and President Obama- IT IS their social agenda. Instead of Don't ask , don't tell- (that strange deal with being Gay as if being gay was just discovered instead of being as old as people)- this is some Republicans telling the rest of us:  DO AS WE SAY, WE KNOW HOW YOU SHOULD LIVE YOUR LIFE.

They want to tell us to give up sex until we marry, that we must only love someone of the opposite sex and the same race; they want us to accept that white men are often frightened of dark skinned people and should have the right to shoot anyone who frightens them; and they want us to generally accept that women should be subservient to the men in their lives.  They also believe that the federal government is the root of all evils and that war is the solution to any problems that frighten a Nation of White  men.  This is so much like the 50's when the cities experienced White flight- now is White fright, and integration, busing, and Women's Lib showed that the country was truly going to the dogs.  The problem with all of this is simply- who are these jerks who think they ought to tell anyone else how to live the one life we have been given; I mean: when I want to worship someone i get down on my knees and pray.

There is a deeper problem to all of this, the Arizona Syndrome- where Whites feel the shrinking power of their disappearing numerical majority, and the fact that logic and reason have decimated the White voting bloc.  We are no longer a nation of White Men. It is too difficult now to convince women they need a man to control their lives, it is impossible to convince young people that being selfish helps their country, it is totally out of the question to get many normal people to trust big business after they have seen their assault on our jobs( gone overseas to low bidders); home equities ( the housing crisis and credit crisis); wars for Republican profits ( i mean how else can you explain Iraq-- that a group of thugs with box cutters exposed our miserable leadership and therefore we spent 3 Trillion dollars and 8 years at war) They still control the money and have invented a game only they can generally play- trading derivatives-  one Hedge Fund Manager earned $3 Billion one recent year- while we cut schools and teachers, and trash pickups, and healthcare, and food to the hungry, housing for homeless---ahh what would Jesus say..? or Budha? or Muhammed? or Bubba the local homeless Vietnam War vet now begging under a bridge? (probably saying Ohh myyy Jesus!)

We are not the first country to have a weird Right Wing attempt to take over a society, and like the others ( oh, say Germany with Hitler, Brazil during the military dictatorship) there is a corp of deep pocket wackos who are using a political party to advance interest which i think arise straight from their frustrated sex drives--well i am giving a great deal of credit which may not be due-- they may simply be more or less insane or power mad.  The point is that they want to control behavior- who sexes whom, who decides to give birth, who marries whom, what kinds of sex, whether she submits to a man or not.  They are not content to wage wars, destroy lives around the globe, convert mankind's few opportunities for progress into bloody venges and revenges( is "venges" a word?- should be, anyway...how can you have re venge without first having a venge).

We live in a golden age- glad captives of a time when the globe can be easily embraced. It can be further embraced by a global pollution, excess of automobiles, carbon fuel burning, ocean trashing, woman bashing, rule by petty dictators and machine guns every goddamn place! OOOORRRRR it can be embraced by progress such as the incredibly rapid adaptations to computers, the internet, smartphones--technology puts us to the lie when we say we cannot change,  fundamentally change-- we already have, and in record times:  what maybe 10 years for the embrace of the internet and maybe 7 years for the embrace of the smartphone technology.  Wireless communications mean we don't have to wire-grid and pave-over the world in order to industrialize enough to feed and employ our swelling masses.

This is a Golden Age of opportunity for social Greening, progress on the things which deeply trouble our societies- on a global basis- water, food, the safety and equality of women- putting an end to war, creating productive capacity to give business and careers potentials to millions more ...it is in our busy little hands. Hands which can turn palms up in surrender or grab something we all know is true--the moment to realize we are what we do; and we can be so much more than we now do.

GOP - Hey we're living here!

A living Constitution was the faultless legacy of a group of fundamentally flawed men, elitist, racist...rapists, even worse if destroying men who try to escape from immoral slavery is accounted for in human terms.  Yet they produced a living social contract that has endured and been given rebirth by the sacrifice of millions of brave men and women---and in the middle of it is the critical idea--our elected leaders represent us--the living people, citizens who comprise this nation--and in the important technical details-THE CONGRESS EACH YEAR IS REQUIRED TO DETERMINE HOW WE SPEND OUR PUBLIC ASSETS. It is not to be done once to bind us forever, it is meant to be responsive and flexible not fixed and tyrannical. So we cant have a Budget unless it conquers the debt from the Republicans Iraq war, mismanagement of the economy until it collapsed, the bailouts and bank business, the bonds based on the liar loans [that someone should be in jail for- in Barry Bonds lied what did these Wall Street guys do?].
So when they read the Constitution in the House, through tears- --did they forget the parts they don't like---let's get to the point-- this Budget weirdness of the House Republicans shows why they are unqualified to lead, why they once again have turned against the people in favor of their Corporate masters--who paid for them true, but did not elect them--their duty is owed only to the people.  

What is the magic of $100 billion or 33 billion in cuts of aid to the poor and needy that we would shut down essential government- NOTHING it is either a principle which does not vote nor breathe- or an order from a higher authority--[no not God- they only believe in God when they go to war to kill someone in HIS name-] their Corporate handlers--the Conservative billionaires who - by this Budget nonsense and appearance- are really running the GOP.

If our Constitution, laws or customs forbid us from increasing government revenues--then they must be changed-- they do not and there are so many harmless ways to raise monies to rid us of debt- including just collecting the taxes in corporate profits that should be paid-  that it is simply mind boggling that these "mis-leader" can say what they say without fear of an instant lightning bolt--see this is further proof they don't believe in God, they would surely all be flinching like a flea on a scratching dog when they speak such falsehood on the subject of this country being-- broke.

Republicans and the full moon...

there is always a full moon over Republican-land, it is the way to explain the ravenous appetite for power and so little effort to use it for the benefit of the country.  The recession has savaged America, it was brought on by a Governmental indifference, and  needless, pointless $2 Trillion spending spree in Iraq---oh, you remember, the ringside seat in the Iraqi bloodletting, civil war, get rid of Saddam and turn the country over to terrorists. Yes, oh the wisdom of that choice---I mean it re-elected Bush, but Court-appointed Presidents are maybe prone to hyperbole- Weapons of Mass Destruction threatening America...hmmm. If there were a droplet of a poison in any country in the world, then we are threatened by a weapon of mass destruction.  Kind of makes you wonder why we bother to have 2, 000 nuclear warheads primed and ready---when a few ounces of toxin might provoke our enemies to consume their economies and ruin their futures...like Bush did. Maybe we need to Plant a Bush among our enemies.
Ahhh but the Full Moon-  howling the Constitution as if we should return to rule by rich white men and slavery, and obedience to the almighty dollar. Ruining healthcare reform because Insurance Companies want to kick sick children out of coverage; .convincing Americans that they have lost freedom - to dump their illnesses until death upon the public by not having healthcare insurance [ I suspect next will be a lets all start smoking and drunk driving while fondling our big guns] and when the finally invent the laser gun that can incinerate a man or building...they will be there to insist there is a right to bear arms.I am surprised we don't all get to own a nuke.
Turning down rapid rail funds in Florida- thousands of jobs hundreds of careers, because it was a Democrat idea...well if you had any ideas besides becoming a pimple on the butt of progress GOP, you would not be who you are--- howling at full moon, always a full moon in Republican-land

the price of free speech...

 

I grew up around public opinion
it was a strange and mottled thing
all the colors and stripes of life,
a blend of all voices upon its timid tongue.
It has been fed to grow and while naturally shy
yet so much attention each second and fourth year
It seems to shine like the greatest of fascinations.

It was the anchor that dragged an awful war
until the ship-of-conflict ran aground
public opinion stood like the stand at New Orleans
when young America found a stone walled  will.

But in recent times it has been battered
abused and terribly despoiled; when her dim eyed guardians
failed; she became the victim of a false crusade
so many bombs bursting in meaningless airs
and New Orleans fell beneath the sea...

Treated so shabbily, even by those once so adoring
now they put on skirts to mock it , and paint it
in colors that frighten and warn, but none so much
as those it holds most dear.

Poor public opinion and now those that
worship at the altar of a vengeful,frigid love
have given her over to those who speak
from the fattened  land of profits, while many suffer
they grow great, deciding the fates of pieces of the world.

Oh, poor public opinion, where to rest our weary frame
when the mountains that make war come to take you?
Where will you go...the back alleys, ahh, yes
will be safer than Main Street,  and the ballot boxes
will frighten you...they will look like the boxes you once knew
covered with flags, one by one come home...
to your tearful refuge.

Now, you will sink beneath waves of tainted green
here when truth comes to auction
Public Opinion, you can do nothing more,
if you cannot pay the price of freedom...

I last saw public opinion on a rooftop howling at the moon
it was a dream, I am sure, but the lonesome desolate sound...
